Success, a word that defines everyone’s dream in life. Being successful in life is something that doesn’t come naturally. The amount of experience, discipline, and hard work required is tremendous, especially in this competitive world.

Being a youth who aspires to be successful, I always read up and watch videos of successful people like Elon Musk, Oprah Winfrey, Satya Nadella, Jack Ma. From there, I get a few tips that I feel are worth sharing for people who are in their 20s. These are the top three tips that I wish I knew earlier in my life. ‌

There Is No Such Thing as Living for the Weekend

The first thing to be successful, you shouldn’t be living for the weekend. Most nine-to-five employees often complain that they are working for the sack of salary and only enjoy life during their weekends. That is a big no if you want to be successful. Let me explain why.

If you are working for the sack of salary, it shows the lack of interest you have towards your job. Which will lead to less effort you are willing to put in your work. Successful people don’t see their work as works. They view it as it is a “calling” for them.

Their job gives them a meaningful purpose beyond money/salary, and because of this purpose, they are always driven to work long hours and succeed. You can tell that “calling” is just another word for doing a job that you love, and I wouldn’t deny it, but look at the emotional difference that you will feel when you are doing a job that you love.

It excites you; you would be doing the job for free, and still, you are willing to give your 100% for it. This emotional attitude itself attracts so many opportunities in someone’s life where eventually makes them successful. One of the most important quotes, “work on your goals/purpose so you can build a life that you don’t need a vacation from. ‌

Never Worry What Other People Think About you

Successful people don’t have the time to worry about what others think of them. If you are thinking because they are busy working towards their goal and improving their life, I would say it’s correct. But what I want to emphasize here is we always worry about what other people think about us, their criticism.

Stop being a prisoner to other people’s opinions and letting that affect your life. For example, the people who talk good about you when you do great will bash and criticize you when you fail. You can’t please everyone, and you can’t make everyone like you.

Like Anthony Hopskins once said, “It’s none of my business what people say of me and think of me. I am what I am, and I do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. It makes life so much easier.”

Learning Is the Key and You Have to Do Every Single day

Keep yourself updated and always take action. In other words, keep learning, add knowledge to yourself and take action in improving your life. Most of us believe that education stops once you graduate from university, but the truth is, education is a lifetime process.

The world we live in right now is moving very fast, and innovation happens every single day. That shows that opportunity is always there, and knowledge is the key to identify those opportunities.

We all are capable of doing wonders with the knowledge that we acquire, but we lack the discipline to take the action of doing. That is one of the most crucial steps to take to be successful in life. Ideas without action are just useless. Knowledge creates visions, and vision without action is just a dream. While action without vision is just a passing time, and vision with action can change the world.

Keep Failing and Keep on Trying

Don’t be afraid to fail and never give up. Failure is the stepping stone to success. There isn’t any life without failures, and I would love to emphasize that it is normal if you fail. Learn from the mistake and try again.

Being successful is not a one-time process. It is a journey. In this journey, it doesn’t matter how slowly you go as long as you keep making progress every single day. One day, you will thank yourself for not giving up. Our greatest weakness lies in giving up, and the most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time. ‌

When the fundamental of a structure is strong, it is difficult to topple it down. If your fundamental attitude is strong, your road to success is brighter, and I believe the above tips that you just read finish are part of the fundamental attitude.

As Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock once said “Success isn’t always about greatness. It is about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success.”. ‌
